Atelier Villeneuve was created by visual artist Iris Marchand and choreographer Bryana Fritz. It focuses on presenting WIP’s (works in progress) and creating space for conversation and exchange around artistic research, methodologies, and performative formats. IRIS MARCHAND
Iris Marchand est une artiste plasticienne autodidacte, elle vit et travaille à Marseille.
Éprise de liberté, elle quitte l’école et s’abandonne à la pratique du dessin et de lecture. Elle poursuit son apprentissage personnel à travers des séjours à New-York, Berlin, Paris ou Bilbao et des expériences professionnelles variées, allant de la restauration à assistante chez Magnum Photo en passant par la création de parfum.
Depuis 2017, elle a décidé de se consacrer uniquement à son travail d’artiste. Si l’encre de chine demeure son matériau de prédilection, elle s’adonne aussi à la céramique qu’elle déploie sous forme de grandes sculptures.
En 2020 elle rejoint la galerie LHOSTE, qui lui consacre sa première exposition personnelle en juin 2021 : We need transformation.
Ce même été, le Château de Tarascon – Centre d’Art René d’Anjou accueille Iris Marchand pour une résidence artistique de trois mois.
Après Christian Lacroix et Françoise Pétrovitch, la jeune artiste est exposée du 10 juillet au 31 décembre 2021.
Depuis 2022, elle travaille sans galerie.
BRYANA FRITZ
Bryana Fritz is a choreographer, dancer, and writer. Her work situates itself at the intersection between literature and performance and is fed by a continued interest in medieval history, fan fiction, media studies, feminism, and histories of illiteracy. Since 2016, she has been collaborating with Henry Andersen under the moniker Slow Reading Club, a semi-fictional reading group that deals in constructed situations for collective reading. Slow Reading Club is represented by Brussels based gallery Damien & The Love Guru.
Fritz studied at the University of Minnesota, Folkwang Universität der Künste, and graduated from the P.A.R.T.S. training and research program. She has since worked as a dancer and performer for Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, Xavier Le Roy, Dimitri Chamblas, and Boris Charmatz, amongst others.
